In the infamous words of Chuck Sheen, its officially time for Doh to go. Year 5 has been completed and we still have a grand total of 0 wins in the CUSA tournament and one "winning" season under his remarkable leadership. Although our winning season was 3 games over .500 and included top notch wins over juggernauts Dallas Christian, McMurry, Alabama State, Grambling, Central Arkansas, Portland State, and Wayland Baptist. Take away those 7 freebies and its obvious we are clawing for mediocrity team in a mediocre conference with a horrendous record in the CUSA tournament. 0-5 is COMPLETELY unacceptable for Year 5 of the Doh regime, as is one faulty "winning" season against a bunch of no-names from the non-conference schedule. I doubt Orsini or Turner have the balls or budget to make a change and make a substantial hire like the did with June, but its obvious we are going nowhere fast with Doherty. The results speak for themselves. Another March has come and SMU Basketball is still...completely irrelevant. The mighty 5-11 in CUSA Rice Owls provided a humble reminder tonight.

If you want to whine about budget, you better be a season ticket holder in more than one sport. Or if you're out of town and can't justify it, up your mustang club donation. Pm me and I'd be glad to get you the information.

Doh should have been gone 2 years ago. He got a real favorable contract and I do not believe there is money to buy him out. We are stuck with him. The team was competitive in conference this year but losing to Rice in the opening round of the tournament is unacceptable. I believe next year will be Doh's last unless he can drastically improve the team. The roster next year should be much better.

very easy to say when you don't know anything about the program nor probably even attended or know what is going on.
If those 2 guys were eligible this yr, this thread wouldn't exist and we would have a bye in the CUSA tourney.
However, not a good time to play at below normal and coach below normal.

I agree. This is the best season we've seen in a decade, and, yes, while we didn't get a bid to the NCAA tournament, I'm happy with progress.

Excuses, excuses, excuses from you a-clowns. Records do not lie. If so and so was eligible......if we had this player or that player......its always about excuses and next year with SMU and the typical SMU fan.

At the beginning of the season, I said that unless this team finished .500 in conference play and had a winning season (due to the fact that we were playing the Texas School for the Blind), Doh was gone. He met those low expectations with by all accounts a team bereft of star power. Next year, he's going to be fully loaded with a young but talented team. Perhaps, he's learned how to coach or how to delegate duties. I don't know, but I have to give him credit for a season where the team performed above its talent level. Yes, we lost to Rice in the first round of the tournament, we weren't going dancing anyway. Next year is Doh's make it or break it year. If he wins, he'll be the toast of the town, if he loses, he'll be on the bus back to ESPN.

I've dumped on Doh for years, but if Orsini was tired of the mediocrity he would have fired him after last season, and not this year when we won 17 games and actually have some half-decent talent committed for next year. We've watched [deleted] basketball for close to 20 seasons now, what's one more year???

Until this season, I was a huge "Doh must go" person. That changed this season. The entire coaching staff did an outstanding job. If Doh can't win with the talent assembled for next season, than we have something to talk about.
Thanks to the team for providing many surprising & fun basketball moments this season. The last few games sucked, including last night. But I feel much better about the future of SMU mens basketball going into next season than I have in a very long time.
