Unfortunately, the pundits were absolutely right and UAB simply did not have the credentials and deserve an NCAA shot. UAB only played one top 50 team (Duke)this season and were blown out. They were simply outmatched in every aspect and particularly in over all talent by Clemson which was one of the lowest rated bubble teams. This gives one pause to think how far behind the SMU and C-USA programs really are on the national scene.

LIke I said, take Dook/UNC out of the mix, the ACC barely ever runs deep in the tourney. It's a great one-off tourney, but it's not a true gauge. That said, UAB truly sucked and it was embarrassing for the conference. Doesn't say a thing about SMU moving forward, though
