Now, I saw this guy on the court videoing himself during the game....wasn't sure what was going on. But he has done a video of the game....which is after him in a batman suit singing "I just want your hoop action", which is also entertaining.
Anyway, if you go to about 14:15 in the video you can see the play. He probably has the best angle on it. When I saw it live and then the replay on the big screen, I could understand why the mighty dolphins were so upset. But this angle shows dia getting hit with the body.
...and yeah, we should schedule them in the regular season, and either wear these t-shirts during warmups, or give them to our students to wear as a reminder to JU:
That should clear up any question about whether or not it was a foul, a clear and flagarant body shot to Papa as he was going up. Only question now is, whether or not the foul occured before time ran out, but it sure seemed like it was less than a second from the catch to the foul, Papa caught it and went right up.
That was a beautiful set up and an incredible in bounds through from Mangrum
#21 who had/has a anger management issue was the one who left Dia, which he should never have done, and also goes into his body on the shot, which you should NEVER do in that situation.Dia would never have gotten the shot off as he brought the ball down BEFORE going up with the ball and the shot would never have been legal with .08 left. #21 bailed us out. He personally blew it...he also hammered Dia on the final in bounds play out of of anger.. he deserved what happened. Great find!!!!

Yes that's correct and RGV.....Dia WASN'T just catching and shooting...he was catching the ball, bringing the ball down ( his bad habit down low) and THEN coming back up to shoot...the shot would NEVER have counted as that move was taking too long for him to actually get the ball out of his hands before the buzzer. Thanks #21!!!
If you saw the video from the opposite "end zone", Dia clearly releases the ball before the light on the backboard lights up. No question the ball was away in time, but the shot was missed, thus a very big thank you to 21.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

I have to wonder if our clock operator was just a wee bit slow on the draw. Gamesmanship?
If you think about it, catching the ball, putting it on the floor and going up with the shot and getting the foul in 0.8 second is pretty amazing. I know the clock doesn't start until Dia touches it, but still.
If that's the case Mitch ...then we lucked out on Dia getting the shot out of his hands....Clock Operators at home games are SUPPOSED to be a little slow or fast on the draw whatever the case may be required....9 times out of ten...a' Big' with long arms and not as quick as a shorter armed PG or SG wouldn't be able to do all that Dia did and still get the ball up to the basket.... Whatever...we won.. !!! March Madness it is.
