SMU is 3-0 in its last 3 games and is still playing.
SMU also saddled Northern Iowa with that 8th loss in that stretch and ended the Panthers season.
Iowa is also a 4-letter word. I have no problem when a team from Iowa gets beat.

Every team in the NCAA tournament will lose it's last game except one.

Your point is what? UNI was going through a bad spell and that's the only reason we won? That's certainly the apparent implication. You, and others on this board, totally misunderstand sports. It's pitiful.

I don't understand how the basketball fans hating on the football team or the football fans hating on the the basketball team benefits either program.

More fun facts...
Northern Iowa was 15-4 at home prior to facing SMU. Those 4 losses:
Missouri State- Advanced to 2nd rd of NIT (26-9 record) Wichita State- In NIT quarter finals and favored in their next game (26-8 record) George Mason- Advanced to 2nd rd of NCAA Tourney (27-7 record) Indiana State- Lost in rd 1 of NCAA Tourney; MVC Tourney Champion (20-14 record)
- SMU is the only team that beat UNI at home this season that did not participate in the NIT or NCAA Tourney. - 3 of those 4 teams advanced at least one round in the tourney. - UNI did not lose at home to any team that finished with less than 20 wins on the season Stop trying to drop a turd in the punch bowl.
