The unexpected fun season

To me, that's what it was.
While there were some who placed postseason expectations with 2010-11, I was not. I became so disillusioned with everything, I had no expectations except to get through the godforsaken next four months.
In the offseason, the Samarippas addition just felt like a total give-up signing. The schedule was ridiculous. I didn't even know SMU hired new assistant coaches until October.
Every time I saw Doherty at The Vard, I just asked myself, "Why is he still here?''
So when I tell you I was out, I was really out.
The UALR and UC Riverside games were
. And then hanging on at Hardin-Simmons was total "Are you kidding?"
But January was stunning. February mattered. March was a blast.
On March 25, I was at Moody watching the alma mater with 20 wins. In November, I was hoping March was the time the search for Doherty's replacement had begun.
In spite of the loss to Santa Clara, I really hope that Doherty, the assistants and the kids felt the hunger and desire and can now really see there is a plan. I hope those kids sitting on the end of the bench came away inspired by what may this thing can become.
I know I did.
Go Mustangs!
