Blue SeatsI've tried for the past few years to move my season tickets down to the blue seats but each year was told the only available section was the furthest baseline section on either side, which was just not a good view for me when I could get half court seats a few rows higher.
Well, last night I was able to buy half court seats (section NN) in the blue and it was great. As I looked left and right in the blue section it was 99% full, something I haven't seen in Moody in a decade. I know the AD is in a tough spot because they don't want to upset the big donors and they need to book that revenue, but they need to do something to get those seats in the hands of people that actually go to the games. If there truly is demand for these seats besides just me, they should institute a minimum game attended clause for those seats. Having the seats that close to the floor full brings so much energy, it is a shame they are typically 60% empty. Good crowd yesterday, reminds me how fun Moody can be. Now lets renovate the old dame. #NewLobCity
Blue SeatsIt's changing ownership down there.
OO started letting the likes of people like me in,now the whole section has gone down hill. Ha ha. Think about it 4 rows 15 seats a row is not much. You have to do more than call and get on a waiting list you must network with Diligence
Re: Blue SeatsThat was the most energetic I have seen the blue seats at a game in a long time.
Normally those are the people who sit on their hands while the rest of Moody is going nuts. The more 'rowdies' who snatch up seats down there, the better. ![]()
Blue SeatsYou can thank Ponyscott. I enjoy his enthusiasm. I hope to get in for next yr. Too many of these aren't used all year. I don't get it.
Re: Blue SeatsKnowing that I am guilty of "old days" syndrome, I add the following:
When I was in school (many moons ago), the bleachers went all the way around the bottom of Moody. The student section sat on those bleachers (where the blue seats are now). Moody used to be a pit. One time I saw Vinnie Johnson of Baylor or was it Akeem..(I forget) anyway one of those famous players went flying for a loose ball into the student section. He was engulfed..you didn't even see him. I am sure his parentage was spoken about. Bob Hitch pulled those bleachers and put in the blue seats about 1984 or so. Ever since then then student body participation just isn't the same.
Re: Blue SeatsIf you really want to get in the blue seats, take whatever is available be it PP or LL. It gets you down in the blue seats where in most games you can move over to a better seat. Also once you are in the blue seats, it gives you a better opportunity to upgrade.

Re: Blue SeatsOr you can just do what I did jump in front of everyone and then give them up to people who will give you a seat Haha

Re: Blue Seatswell damn...looks like part of the pic was cut off..so paste the image from my post and you can see the bleachers all the way around

Re: Blue Seats
I can make that shot - nothing but net
Re: Blue SeatsMoody was great when only students, faculty, staff and parents/family of players were allowed in the courtside and end zone bleachers/seats. The blue seats actually began when the Mavericks arrived in town qualified for the playoffs a year earlier than expected. They used Moody for a 1st round playoff series and those "prime" seats were adapted for Mav season ticket holders. SMU then realized there was money to be made following form.
I've long advocated a redesign of Moody that would return the courtside bleachers and create suites in the lower level mezzanine for primary boosters. I think a club on either the east or west end where Mustang Club members and their guests could enjoy a pre-game beverage would be a nice addition as well. If that ultimately reduces capacity to about 7k, that's more in line with what we need.
Re: Blue SeatsIt was the very best when the students were allowed in the bleachers directly behind the opposing team's bench. Some great heckling going on in those days. Back and forth with Abe Lemons was priceless.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Blue Seatsanyone know when the last time was that they used the above-the rafters press box? There are 10 booths up there...kind of interesting to imagine a time when they were all in use and the rest of Moody was full.
I think they should gut the offices and widen the concourse, but as for suites, it seems like it would be more cost effective to install stairs/escalators on the exterior of Moody and retrofit the upper 1/6 with suites. If you go up into the far corners, you'll see a good amount of empty space behind the last rows of suites. Restrooms, bar for the private club, etc would go well up there. Blue SeatsRemember that email from the athletics department. A questioner of sorts on your prospective interest in donations for upgrades for the M?
