Not positive on this news yet, but its going around. Awful situation, but couldn't happen at a better time. Basically, we're deep enough to compensate. That just means more Cunningham, Jones & possibly Norman. Hold the fort down, get Williams and Smith back around xmas. Haynes has length too. Awful news, if true.

Recovery from ACL tears isn't the laborious process that it used to be:

If he has the surgery in May, the physical therapists will have him up and moving around by the end of that week if not sooner.

My prediction is he will do some light running by late June early July, running forward and backwards by August, cutting by Oct. 15 and then in a SMU game by Jan. 1 if not after first semester exams.

Perfect example,
I read a story on a RB in San Antonio who blew out his knee in mid-August. He's running in track meets now.

Every knee is different but the challenge for Smith is if he can have the confidence that he will be able to cut on it. There will be that defining moment in a practice when he instinctively does something on the court that he used to do pre-knee injury and the knee responds.

Once he gets to that point, he'll be fine.

I don't think he'll miss as much time as we think. It's not good but the timing is on his and SMU's side.

Agreed. Just need to develop some chemistry and have a few kids step up. We have the depth to cover it, and he'll probably be ready around the time Williams becomes eligible.

He's been fretting for a few days, said you never know how fragile your body is, till it's hurt. Then told everyone that he has a deep bone bruise and torn ACL, Needs surgery & 6 months rehab

This is terrible news.

As someone who has torn both ACLs, let me tell you it might take 6 months to heal, but it will take a year to fully be back to where you were before surgery. You also have to factor into the equation the mental aspect. While I tore my ACLs playing soccer and lacrosse, I am downright terrified of playing basketball, due to all of the cuts you make.

I hope for the best for Leslee because I know what he's going to go through.

Did this happen in a pick up game? As much as these guys played in Dedman (now Crum?), I was always surprised when we'd get through an offseason without pick up game injuries.
