4.2 points per game as a sophomore, played 12 minutes per game, doesn't like to "lock in" and puts his time in at practice and heads out to have fun. Lots of Fun! Average student! Very very talented but you are taking a chance partner. That is straight from Manhattan Kansas per reliable source. Probably will transfer back home. Good luck Coach Doh! They have a 1,500 waiting list for season tickets at KSU. The guards in front of you are seniors. Why would you leave now? Hey, hoopsmax, don't shoot me for the info. He will probably go to SMU and be all-league.

Mitch,

I think we would agree that Dallas, Texas would be a much better place to live then the plains of Western Kansas. He is close with his mother and so I suspect TCU, North Texas, SMU, etc is where he will be looking at for his next move. He would obviously have to sit out a year. If my reliable source is correct - average student - likes to will -I will take the fifth on that - you might see him at North Texas. As you know, SMU is tough ( which is great) and demanding both in the classroom and on the court. How many transfers have we taken under Coach Doh and who worked out? Mo helped us win a couple of games. No doubt! D. Williams put up big numbers after being at Western Texas Community College but we still didn't have a winning season.

Ummm, he's a good kid, that didn't thrive under the most abusive coach in D1. Very good talent, don't care if he can read for chrissakes, get him through if he wants in. Unless we can get immediate big help, to offset Leslee, you have to take a 4 star local that doesn't have an entourage. We've already taken two that do have hangers-on, so no idea why we'd judge this kid, who also is an Arlington grace Prep kid.

You don't care if he can read! Wow! Don't want to burst your bubble but reliable source says talented but 4.2 points per game doesn't just make you want to sign him today. Frank Martin gets his players to play hard. They win! You seem to know this young man better than I do but I guess it will not be our decision in the end. Coach Doh and staff will decide.

If Frank is the most abusive coach in the US, then why would he go there in the first place? I am sure he had other options. Frank shows his emotions on the sideline ( understatement) while others do it behind the scenes and act like choir boys for the T.V.

Frank Martin couldn't even get a return call from Miami, b/c he's filthy, and left a trail of corpses on his way out of Miami Senior. His staff is tainted, see Dalonte Hill/DC Assault, which is all pay to play.

Cotton is going to be huge for us, and his numbers stunk at Nevada. Shawn Williams wasn't going to sniff the court in Austin, and he's going to be a staple of our line-up the next 3. Sometimes it's just not a fit, see Collin Mangrum. I'm not even really advocating Russell, as much as it's someone you have to really look at. Intrigued by the french big, too. He looks to have skill, we run the sprint motion, and his positioning sorta counters his lack of athleticism.

Russell would be a very good addition to the team. Certainly an upgrade in talent compared to Haynes, Harp, & Clink. Let's face it, if you watched any of KState's games, everything went through Pullen. When Russell did play, you could see flashes of his talent. A change of scenery will do him well.

papawasamustang-Those players you mentioned helped us win 20 and all will graduate. Paul McCoy was much more talented than them and well ----- we couldn't win with him and he was a cancer on the team. Give me a four year player like John Killen anyday and I will take Harp, Clins, Walker, etc anyday on my team. Who gave this young man advice coming out and going to K-State.

Sounds like Frank is like a lot of coaches if that is the case. He would fit in well in Conference USA. They say Flowers from Southern Miss went for $$$$ wired from boster and was kicked out of Midland and Chipola junior colleges. Look at the talent Paul McCoy had - had 23 against Memphis on the road. Not comparing Russell to him. All these new guys you and mustangpapa are talking about - they have not scored a point, got a rebound, or won a game. Hope they do win 20 or more - don't get me wrong. Note: Don't know if the Flowers $$$ amount is true but would not put it by Larry E. I would have been complaining earlier if we had not beat them soundly at home. Flowers can play. As you know a Dallas native and probable NBA guy. He is what we need without the baggage. He plays hard and is really skilled. Loved watching him play. Larry E also hired his coach at Chipola to get the deal done.

Russell might be an upgrade but Haynes, Harp, and Clink all were instrumental in us winning 20 games this year. I have no doubt that Russell is a talent and probably more talented and athletic than anyone on our entire team this year. That is not saying much. I am just saying an extremely reliable source told me somethings today that would say " is there another John Killen out there" that we can have for four years. He might have been my favorite player in the last five years. He was a winner and a leader. Russell had to know what he was getting into. Is Frank a crook? I don't know that for sure. I personally like the way he gets into his players faces. Make them play their $%$% off - they were a game from the final four last year. Pullen should have had things go through him. Didn't everything look to go through Papa this year - it worked for us with only two players in double figures for the year and everyone playing a role. Not saying he is - we don't need a cancer.

Do you have a crystal ball? I hope they that Shawn, Cotton, etc do great but as today they have not scored a point, got a rebound, and most inportantly won a game. Hey, I look forward to watching them and hope they are working their tails off everyday.

Papa, I am not knocking this year's team but Russell better be more talented than anyone let alone Ryan, Justin, and Clink. Did you forget about Collin, J Frog, etc? They were not that talented but won 20 8-8 in the league by playing as a team. Flashes of talent - saw that with Paul McCoy and Mo.Trust me, I hope he loves the game and helps us win. That is the bottom line. I like guys like we had with this year's squad. My uneducated guess would be that UAB, Memphis,Marshall, East Carolina, Central Florida, UTEP, Southern Miss, etc all have better players on their roster than our incoming players. That doesn't necessary mean they will beat us. We proved that this year. Talent doesn't always win the games as you know. Let's wait and get on the road in February to Southern Miss and see where we are at that time. Didn't it take the Miami Heat sometime to "get going" with the big three? The results of our new players might be 2013 in March.

Comments from fans on the Kansas State Message Boards regarding Nick Russell; they love their hoops in Kansas and are knowledgeable fans.

Nice young man, not hard nosed, not a pure shooter, fans concerned about 4 transfers in one year, who wants to sit on the bench if they can be a starter somewhere else, system not right for Nick, Dallas Newspaper reports he is going to SMU, guys in front of him are better, he is not going to play, Nick played well against UNLV, failed to progress in two years, turnover machine, played 305 minutes and had 30 turnovers, great upside, didn't buy into what Frank wanted him to do, etc. You can go to Kansas State Basketball message boards regarding additional comments.
