This is from his Bio on the TCU site and doesn't make a very good parting quote for us at SMU......don't we have momentum?...its too bad we didn't pay him enough to keep him here.
http://gofrogs.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl ... 11aaa.html“I want to thank Coach Christian and the rest of the TCU community for this opportunity,†Brown said. “I’m excited for the chance to help continue to build this program, and I know there are big things coming in the future. You can really notice from the outside the momentum that is building within this program and university, and I wanted to be a part of that.â€

you don't think this has a lot to do with TCU's joining arguably the top college bball conference in the country? I would hope everybody associated with TCU hoops would be feeling the momentum and I would expect their Big East affiliation will open some doors for a guy who will recruit

That was about the only good thing he could say. They finished in last place in the Mountain West with a 1-15 conference record. Guess the momentum he was talking about was moving to the BE.

Or firing members of last year's staff.
They have nowhere to go but up.

I think Reggie is a good guy & very respectful. We definitely made it too easy on him. W/the amount of money coming into the program right now, you'd think some would have been ear marked for quality recruiters. I get the Big East jump, and that in theory, Christian is guaranteed for longer than Doh, but this ended up coming down to him being 3rd chair, and this regime not showing recruiters love.

Coach-speak, plain and simple. He just got a job with them. What's he going to say, you suck but I get more money?

There's too much angst on this thread given to a manufactured SID quote and the SMU hoops budget. In April, we witnessed the commitment of $30 million toward upgrading Moody and parts around. Let's don't lose sight that beyond that, there could be some efforts to restructure the day-to-day budget of the basketball program itself. I'm not saying there is. But common sense would cause me to believe that you don't upgrade a building and don't take of the infrastructure inside of it.

I find it amazing you are so analytical when it comes to this post and not to recruiting....
You are like the John Kerry of the board...flippy floppy...

Actually, Nick, I'd like to think I'm pretty analytical about the recruiting angle. I just go about it differently. I'm challenging some of you to defend your concerns when you have a finite amount of information to work with.

After TCU goes about three years without a conference win in hoops, there will not be a lot of momentum for them. They will literally become the whipping boy for an entire conference. Heck even USF will probably beat them. Can you imagine the beat down they'll receive week after week from Louisville, Georgetown, Syracuse, UConn, Pitt, WVA, Marquette, ND...

Well, I think they'll improve a ton w/regards to talent acquisition, given their new staff. It's a matter of how much time they give that staff. Sorta like Doh w/Mangino etc. IF they can forget the last few years, and give the current batch 3, they could be ok.
