You know what's funny, FGC has a great backcourt coming in in '11-'12. Dante Holmes is Bmore tough and the other kid was Austin rivers running mate in high school.

OK I figured it out. This should be a tough test for FGCU which should help them later in the year when they play toughees Ave Maria and Longwood

Don't be too quick to judge....they're playing Ave Maria....big difference.....Maria has more pull than Mare

Believe it is Florida Gulf Coast U from Ft. Myers. We played them several years ago.

Dear Matt,

Please release the 2011-12 non-conference schedule. I'm sure it's long since been completed. Please do not make Herman say, "Well, we have to wait for CUSA before we can release our schedule."

That's baloney. A healthy number of DI programs have already released their non-conference schedules without the conference schedule being set.

Can you help me understand why SMU is one of the few that refuses to do this?

I bet he's waiting for a list of the newly approved Division 1 schools to be released-he always schedules at least 2 First year Division 1 schools. Checked off newcomer "FGCU". Looking for another. Probably needs to take a look at Ava Maria too.

It looks like this game will come after the pre-season NIT games in Palo Alto. And if SMU is fortunate to advance to The Garden, it would be a good warm-up.

I've never been opposed to several ding-dong games during a non-conference schedule. You need a few of them to mix with the challenging games. Now, last year was ridiculous but still.

Based on the limited number of games we've seen for 2011-12, it looks like Doherty is mixing this together.

So the non-conference games that we know of are:

Pre-season NIT --- Colorado St. and then Fresno/Stanford
AAC -- Oklahoma St
FGC
Return game to Ole Miss.

Anyone else heard anything more?

I'd think the rest of the OOC schedule won't have a ton of firepower, unless we make a run in the NIT. Hopefully a few competitive mids

home schedule might be more attractive if we could draw more than 1,500...and don't give me that "if you schedule them, the crowd will come". We couldn't even pack Moody when A$M visited

It did not help that we weren't very good back then. You need to start winning some games and go to some post seasons and you will get the folks coming back.

Indeed, but the A&M game was first of the year two back
