Hoops outlook for 2011-2012

I don't wander over here from the football board too much, but I wanted to get some insight on how this year's team is looking. My basic understanding is that Doh has upped the talent level pretty significantly. However, the team will be much younger and not very experienced. If history is any guide, I would say that points to around a .500 season with some ups and probably a few more downs. Is that the consensus among those who know more about hoops than I do?

We don't get Smith and Williams in until December, which means that our trip to the Preseason NIT could get brutal. Outside of that stretch of games, though, our non-conference offers some should-win games, and we should be a better team as far as experience as well as adding Smith and Williams in once we get to the conference schedule.
I think we will win somewhere in the neighborhood of 17 games in the regular season.

Impossible to tell. We haven't seen most of these guys since high school & AAU. The bonus is that many have been in the system a full year, just haven't played games. Also, the depth & talent level is a whole different level than we saw last year. I expect Big Shot Rob to have monster games, and Frog/Giles should be pretty capable in the back court.
We need early contributions from the frosh. No idea what Clink & Losh will bring this year. We're still deep & talented minus Leslee & Shawne, just no game experience.

I'm a little concerned about the "showcase" game against OSU. I fear the beat down in that one.

No telling what happens in that one. On the one hand, it's OSU, and they have a great program. On the other hand, Travis Ford has just been OK up there...not great. Better than Sutton's kid was, though.

I don't fear OSU at all on paper. They play undisciplined and we're going to control tempo. No way Shawn Williams & Jalen let Lebryan go nuts etc. That said, no telling how we perform till we watch these guys play.

Outlook will not get much better until we get a real basketball coach

I can't wait for the season to start. That said, I wish we had the full roster for the NIT.
