Both parents of Scott Drew diagnosed with Cancer

Very sad story out of Waco, say a prayer for the Drew family.

The parents of Baylor men’s basketball coach Scott Drew, former Valparaiso (Ind.) University coach Homer Drew and his wife Janet, have each been diagnosed with cancer, Valparaiso spokesman Aaron Leavitt confirmed Tuesday night.

Homer Drew retired from Valparaiso for the second time in May and said then the decision was not health-related.

Homer Drew issued a statement through the university saying he “appreciated the thoughts and prayers” being expressed.

In 1988, Homer Drew took over a program that had never gone to the NCAA Tournament, won a conference title or had a winning record in Division I. He produced nine 20-win seasons and five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
