Oklahoma State women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna have died in a plane crash along with two others, just 10 months after the school commemorated the 10th anniversary of a crash that killed 10 men associated with the men's program.

There aren't words to describe how sad this is. Both young, healthy, vibrant people. I had the pleasure of meeting them both at an OSU game, and they couldn't have been nicer and more gracious. Oklahoma State and college basketball are reduced by their loss.
Rest in peace.

I first met Kurt in the early 90's, when he was head coach at Trinity Valley JC. From there he went to La. Tech, at a time when we were both still in the WAC. I cant say that we were close friends or anything, but he was around frequently, his team came to Moody every year, and I ran into him often at high school and AAU tournaments, and he was always friendly, and seemed like a good person. Everyone who knew him seemed to like him. He was a good guy, and a very, very good coach. My sincere condolences to his family, the family of Miranda Serna, and to the OSU community, where I know they will be sorely missed.

My heart goes out to the OSU community.
