Jamal Branch to transfer..from A&M. He was Turgeon's last 'big' recruit at A&M, so that means he's very familiar w/our recruit coordinator, Pooh Williamson. For those upset w/the PG play, something to chew on
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..do you even have to ask the question have transfers helped us win games?
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..Yes Travis, Baylor probably has 2 NBA players haha.
They have 2 top 10 picks!!!!
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..Think of where we would have been in the standings without Derek Williams...
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..
Mangrum...
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..So are you saying we shouldn't accept his transfer if SMU is one of the schools he's considering? Would you take him over Frog given what we know if his potential and Frog's track record?
For me, I'll take a shot at Branch. You never know if you don't give it a shot. We just have to find out if SMU is even on his mind.
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..I think it's a total crapshoot on transfers and whether they will have an impact or not.
But when you have a player like Branch's credentials, it's hard to ignore that. We can agree that the PG position needs a major upgrade here.

precisely
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..This kid was a high school transfer for athletic purposes. Not surprised to see him as a college transfer.
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..Shawn Williams looks like he could be a pretty good transfer player for us............
Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..
1) You make it seem like Branch is a malcontent, he's not. He committed to Turgeon over 2 years ago and never waivered. He was upset when Turgeon left, even more upset when A&M left the Big 12. Then, A&M hired J'Mychal Reese's Dad, just to get Reese, who plays a similar position. On top of that, the new head coach gets parkinson's, I believe, and he's being coached by scum like Glenn Cyprien. You are correct, though. Kids these days have entourages, yes men, and are told they are the world. When things go poorly, they tend to run. That & schools writing off on coaches being able to force out under-performers, has the transfer rate at an all-time high. Neither party is committed to the other anymore. That said, lots more to Branch than all of that. 2) The kids at Grace Prep & Prestonwood play the best competition of any schools in Texas. They play a national schedule, and the teams themselves are at least 5 deep in D1 kids, several on each squad being high majors. On top of that, Branch played for one of the best traveling squads in Texas. The kid has never ducked anyone on the court
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..Turgeon wasn't hired until very late, after the Spring period. Leaving w/o another program lined up, w/an open ship, would have been quite difficult for Branch.
Also, I've known Cyp forever, worked side by side in Vegas, and he's the definition of sketchy. Not to mention basically lying on his resume to get the ULL job, from which he was let go, after they found out. FWIW, ask anyone who works in basketball full-time about Cyp. Interesting tidbit: an ex-SMU assistant was interviewed & offered a position on Kennedy's staff. This individual bleeds Texas and would have loved to be in the Big 12. He declined b/c he refused to take orders from Cyp, who he was afraid would derail his career w/his loose trail tactics. Cyp is a good guy and friend, but he's lawless
Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..Maryland has a '12 PG coming in, and co-lead for the Harrison twins in '13, so they are going to be careful w/their PG openings.
Definitely a no degree thing w/Cyp. Got it at UTSA right after ULL deal. Lots of slippery recruiters out there. I have no problem w/it, or Cyp for that matter, but its what it is.

Re: Jamal Branch to transfer..
I agree. I just wish he would control the ball a little more. Not sure if it is him or coach.
