I've seen this before and it's cruel for a guy to spring that on a women in front of all those people. That is a private moment and should been kept that way out of respect to the women.

Unless you have pre-approval, a public proposal is a bad idea. My wife loves me and I had no doubt she would say yes when I asked. Nevertheless, had I asked her in front of thousands of people, I am pretty sure she would have killed me.

Any public proposal is selfish and manipulative and not a good way to start things out. Better to ask after the date.

This guy probably loves UCLA basketball so much, and he loves his girlfriend so much, and wanted to combine the two loves into one incredible love-bomb moment. That last idea isn't very manly and neither is the whole thing. As her straight and privately during a nice shared experience between you two.

I have seen many times when the women has said yes. This is the first public no I have seen. Bottom line is she just did not want him that much and probably was just casually dating him and he took it too far. She could have been seeing other people as well. He should have know concretely that she would marry him before doing something like that.
