I'm going to take us to cover. I'd love to get a win, but I'm less confident about this than I was Ole Miss, even OSU

I agree that we "should" cover. Would certainly hope we will be competitive with Tulsa, even at their place. This is the kind of game we need to find a way to win if we hope to join the upper half of CUSA

Hoopmanx, why were you less confident about the Tulsa game than Ole Miss and OSU? Just wondering.

I like Tulsa's personnel slightly better, especially after injuries and suspensions. They've played a brutal schedule, so figured they'd be competition hardened. Also, they have more size and fgured to smash us on the glass

I used to like to login and read this board to get information about the basketball team, but it seems all we get now are personal attacks and agendas.

Travis Bickle wrote:My honest assessment of this team BEFORE the Rice game was that we were not very talented which upset some posters. They seem like nice young men and play hard. I hope we have another Papa Dia or Rob N who develops through hard work. Our best team based on win total since Doh has been here and wins in conference would be last year's team which was not very talented but a joy to watch play. They were a couple of baskets away from 24 wins and finished the season with 20 wins. Personally my favorite players in the Doh era would be John Killen and Papa Dia. My least favorite player was Paul McCoy who might have been the most talented. He was a cancer on the team and you had to "beg" him to play. He had 23 at Memphis one night so you know he could hoop.

OK, I am not a basketball person so I have no dog in this hunt but I am so sick and tired of Travis pumping up the 20 win season last year. Yes it can be used in recruiting and confidence, but anyone with any intelligence knows that we had to by 3 extra games to get there. When we get 20 wins in the regular season then maybe you can spread it around a little, but to use that as a reflection of how great last years team was is nothing but disingenuous

How many did Coach K pay to get into?

I am not saying we did not win 20. I am saying it is not that much of an accomplishment when you have to pay to get extra games so you can get there. You do realize we lost 15 don't you?

Travis Bickle wrote:Coach Cal states on his record how many wins he has yet his teams had to take down the banners from UMASS and Memphis. Rose was ineligble but played but they count those wins.

LOL! How many wins need Coach K Buy? Probably 80 playing the Winthops, East Tennesse States, Furmans off the world. You better come at me with something better than that. Just the schedules of programs like Kentucky and Indiana. Check them. They BOUGHT LOTS OF WINS

Come on. Give yourself some credit for being smart enough to know what paying to get into a game means. We played some cupcakes also and lost some. But that did not consist of paying money to add games to the schedule. We paid to add 4 games to last years schedule after finishing the season 17-15. We won 3 to get to 20. I do not think Coach K had to write a check to get into the NCAAs.

I will not continue this discussion because I have already lost too much of my life with you. But when we win 20 games in the regular season I will feel like we are starting to develop into a real team.

And do not ever tell me what to do.
