PATHETIC!Wow, you're real inviting to potential fans.
I was glad the fraternities were there. I still dont remember when Meadows, Cox, Law School, or any other student org (besides the band) showed up. "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

Re: PATHETIC!I'm glad they showed up, but at least pretend to be interested in the game. It's sad when you look to the other side of the arena and in the student section and there are all these students sitting down, playing with their phones, looking as though they wished they were anywhere else. I know they were forced to attend by the IFC, but geez.
Pony Up!
Re: PATHETIC!missing were the singing Iranians that used to accompany Kazemi.
nice touch for the SMU chick in the tunnel behind the Rice bench to hold up the "SMU hearts Kazemi" sign. Think that wouldve flown at Duke? "Duke loves [some ACC player]" I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: PATHETIC!
Did you see how the team came out yesterday? Anyone would be disinterested by that flat, suck [deleted] performance. We laid an absolute egg out of the gate and for most of the game. Missed opportunity to get students in attendance interested in SMU hoops. If anything, that game reminded them why they don't come. I am so sick and tired of everyone getting on the students. Do people go watch bad movies? No. Why should people want to go watch bad basketball/football or any other sport for their entertainment? Because they go to the university is not a sufficient answer in my book.
PATHETIC!
with last nights performance, can you blame them for playing on their phone the whole time? "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

Re: PATHETIC!The question is what are we going to do about it? We need to put a product out there that fans (students, alumns and Dallas residents) want to go see. We don't have that. I've voiced my displeasure with the coach already. I hope the administration decides to do something about our basketball program before we move to the BE because this won't cut it.
Re: PATHETIC!
Basketball needs more than Orsini, Turner and David Miller running around making decisions. We're going to the Big East, it's time to get serious and that means program infrastructure. The support system around the program is as unorganized as Doh explaining the princeton. I'm not talking big money donations either, though they help.
Re: PATHETIC!So how is the bball infrastructure so much less organized than the fball infrastructure? Not trying to be a smarta$$, just asking a legit question. Hoopmanx- you mention facilities but IMO the bball program has much better facilities. i.e.- Crum for a practice center - yet no IPF for fball. Moody will soon have major renovations and will at least be = to Ford. And yes, I do realize that physical facilities are only part of the equation.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: PATHETIC!
SMU has no hoops only booster group responsible for supporting it's staff in areas the traditional budget can't. For example, at Maryland, they had a group called FOG(Friends of Gary) that kept them on an even playing field w/the commitment level of UNC/Dook. If they needed to run well over budget in recruiting, Fog covered it. They gave access to private transport during heavy recruiting periods, where you need to be on the east & west coast w/in hours. We need a professional level hoops only trainer, not some guy handed down from the football program or w/roots in other sports. Basketball Elite performance training and conditioning is different. When Maryland didn't have that, FOG paid to have that guy in place. IF you've seen the way we train, and I have, you'd realize we're well behind the curve. They cover any extra traveling academic support. They fundraise for hoops-centric causes through golf tourney's etc. Thats just on the money side. Mostly, they need friends of the program, specifically in areas related to the basketball industry, rallied, directed, and motivated to re-establish this as a Big East level brand, w/infrastructure to back. FWIW, this isn't really about facilities, its about everything else
PATHETIC!
I made this argument 10 years ago and got run off the old board. Had to change my name and everything. I've sort of changed my tune since then, but it is interesting how no one jumps all over these arguments like they used to.
Re: PATHETIC!
pretty much exactly what we did w/ our chance to pique anyone's interest in south Dallas when we rolled turds vs Jackson St I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: PATHETIC!I realize the team didn't give the fans something to cheer about, but I believe that is a two way street. Mediocre teams play above their level when driven by fan support. Is it too much to ask college kids to have a few drinks and get a little rowdy at a basketball game? Perhaps a flat team would get energized to play harder there by creating something worth supporting.
Chicken and egg... Pony Up!
Re: PATHETIC!
You are the ultimate GDI
Re: PATHETIC!Moody gets loud when critical shots are made and when SMU starts playing exciting basketball. The ultimate problem is we don't do that consistently or very often. Boring offense, run by athletes that don't seem comfortable in that offense, most of whom don't look like they should be playing D1 ball, in an arena that looks like a high school gymnasium. It's not chicken and the egg. We've got to put out a much better product to bring in basketball savvy fans.
