It's now or neverDoh - most that know you like you, but we need to win four of the next six games or there will be a coaching change this year. We have upgraded talent but you are in year 6 not year 2 - so scoreboard is all that counts. Now or never. Hint - let go of the reins a little and these guys will get you some wins.
Re: It's now or neverPulling for the team, but pretty tough to see Doh making a run w/this young a squad.
Re: It's now or neverWelcome to...Doh Watch 2012!
Re: It's now or neverI'm pretty much for whatever's best for the program. The guy has been here a long time and isn't winning, particularly the close ones. OTOH, we're getting tons of production from the frosh/soph kids, and the '12 recruiting class has a national top 100 7ft guy, that is married to this staff, in it. Nick Russell is another Top 100 national ready to roll next year as well. I find myself conflicted daily. Also, as much as the princeton pains me this year, its a smart direction for this program. Trying to run vs the Big East isn't gonna pay dividends anytime soon.
Re: It's now or neverAll valid points, it's just painful to know Doh has been here for six (full) seasons and is about 25 games under .500. The axe came much with a much higher bar for Dement, and came out of nowhere for Tubbs. But, then you think and see he's rehabbed the position, probably rebuilt some brunt bridges with the Dallas community, loaded up on local talent, gotten us several quality transfers from high-major squads, etc.
But then we realize we aren't winning games, he's been terrible at roster management, he has bizarre sub patterns, it took him 4 full seasons to discover a set offense, and now we play boring basketball in front of almost nobody in our Coliseum and we're about to get hit by an 18 wheel semi called the Big East. Back and forth we go.
Re: It's now or never
This is my conflict as well. I dont think SMU will ever, ever, be in a position to go fast on fast with the high four and five stars from the BEast. It would be like SMU football going to the Big Ten and having a coach that says, to quote Barry Switzer, "we're going to run the damn run." Not to get too sidetracked, but someone tell me what Marquette is doing right besides rolling a bunch of jucos into beertown. They lost Crean a couple years ago, replaced him, havent had to go through much of a rebuild, have stayed competitive, and among other things beat Louisville last night and have a better overall and conference record. What system do they run? I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: It's now or neverMarquette doesn't run the Princeton offense, that's for sure.
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: It's now or neverI'm not opposed to bringing him back for the final CUSA season. He either elevates us or doesn't and we get a fresh everything for our first year in the Big East (conference, stadium, coach). We may not move forward in terms of results on the court, but at least recruiting will not suffer with him at the helm so it would not set us back.
Re: It's now or neverDoh now has a talented team that is no longer under-sized across the board and they still look like garbage, most of the time. What on green Earth is going to change this season or next that makes anyone expect different results? We need to start building for our fan base for BE future and that means start putting out a team that looks like it's going to compete. This team isn't it.
Re: It's now or never
I'll second that I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: It's now or never
Agreed. I think it is time for a change.
Re: It's now or neverIF we do make a move, it has to be decisive. Have a list, prioritize, and don't miss. The first mission of the new staff will be retaining the '12 class, so can't swing and miss. Oh yeah, I don't trust Orsini. Need more basketball people
Re: It's now or neverso bring both Hurley boys. In fact, if Dan doesnt want to leave Wagner, do you think Bobby is to young/inexperienced for his first job?

Re: It's now or never
So many ways to attack this. Orsini should take his case to Adidas brass. New stadium, new uniforms, new coach, new program. Get outside help, and do it on the DL, now.
