Can anybody tell me when will Russell be elgible to start playing?I thought he was elgible this semester.

He won't be playing this year.

I'm thinking if he was eligible, we would have seen him playing by now.

Well aware of the 1 yr sit out rule, unless their is a special hardship. Anything else Travis?

Yes, I'm sure I said 'awesome talent' w/regards to Russell lol He was a national top 100 kid who went Big 12, and would start for us right now. Not sure that makes him awesome, but certainly makes him valuable.

FWIW, Russell & his Dad are plenty pissed at Doh already b/c they wanted the hardship papers filed. For whatever reason, Doh & crew didn't file them, so Russell is definitely sitting the year. It's caused a bit of a riff. Shawne Williams Dad isnt loving on Doh either. By all means, recruit Dallas lol

Is it legal to hire an "Entourage Liaison" for your hoops program?

Great! I hope somebody isn't make transfers angry enough to transfer before they even suit up in an SMU uniform.

Its not like that, and Russell is working hard w/Hix. That said, I'm not sure what Doh's motivations were, especially IF he needed to win this year to save his job. I would have thought he'd have been ecstatic to push for Russell's early eligibility, especially w/Shawne & Leslee out for so much of the OOC

Doesn't not filing the papers and having him sit keep him here one year longer? Maybe Doh thought we had OK depth at PG between Frog, Manuel, and Clink. Could he have just wanted him here for the following year?
And would Russell's last year here be the first year in BE play?

Well, by rule, he had to sit out this year. We were supposedly petitioning to get him eligible this year b/c he transferred due to his Dad being sick. Doh talked about Russell petitioning all preseason, made it sound like a real possibility that he'd get the waiver, then it was never filed. So, he can play next year and the first year in the Big East.

I doubt Doh didn't file b/c of guard depth, if only b/c he's better than most all our guards. Maybe he wanted him for first year of BE play, but does Doh think he's guaranteed that long?
