Our players are literally coached to not crash the boards.

That can be an indictment of the coach (I've never been a fan of the idea of not going for rebounds), but it does need to be mentioned when our rebounding stats are brought up.

Seriously coached not to crash the boards? Guess it does make sense seeing them play, every missed shot on Offense they rush back to get set on D.
Well its all about to be over soon. Looking forward to the NEW future of SMU BBALL!

Dog addresses this regularly. He tells them to get back and set the D rather than get boards. Jalen and Rob have license to go for them in certain situations. So our lack of boards is not an indictment of our players in any way. Now the shooting.....

It is the lack of rebounding when we are on defense that is killing us.

UCF was getting multiple offensive rebounds on almost every shot. It was almost like we were not even on the court. Pathetic

Like many that actually attend the games, I have been extremely frustrated watching the offense milk the clock & jack up a contested shot, with no one going for the O boards.
After the game Saturday, I get in my car & listen to Doh on the post game show. He said that with this team, he doesn't allow anyone to crash the O boards except Smith or Jones, IF they have a legit chance of grabbing the board. I almost ran off the road when I heard this. That is a total line of crap.
Crashing the O boards is one of the most fundamental aspects of the game. To add to that, UCF ain't all the good buddy. They didn't appear to me to be a fast pace,up tempo, type of team. So what's the big rush to get back & set up a crappy match up zone for a team that 's not going to push the ball up the court anyway.

I hope changes are made soon. I want to see a team of kids having fun on the court.
Its extremely old, boring, non entertaining, watching a group of uptempo kids, walk the ball down the court, looking like a bunch of robots as the fail to execute the offense, jacking up a contested shot with little time on the 35 second clock, & then rush back without 1 kid crashing the boards.

Very disappointing brand of basketball.

The answer is we don't have any talent to speak of. We are also #306 in points per game, #235 in assists, and #213 in FG %. Obviously our immense talent can't rebound or shoot or score.

342: Dallas Christian - it's hard to rebound with only 5 guys on your roster
343: El Centro CC
344: Texas School for the Blind

You sir are not the P.R. Man for SMU Basketball. That title belongs to our SMU great Ara Terrell or is it Ira Terrell

Glad to see you went back & edited Ira's name. He was a great player & one that doesn't get the credit he deserves. His # should have been retired before # 53 IMO.

Ira Terrell played basketball at SMU, while somebody else supposedly played the "violen" at Yale.
