Actually, our opponent only scored 43...Princeton worked well tonight, except we didnt have anyone that could score on our side.
Im with you though....at the end of the year, bring in a new coach..IF...we pay the money and get the right one...if we Fire Doh just to fire him and bring in some peckerwood that is no better with less name recognition...no thanks.....I will take my chances with Doherty..I guy that loves SMU. does and says the right things, has name recognition, and has improved in recruiting.

Let's say it correctly. Doh's version of the Princeton offense is to blame. The Princeton itself is a good system...we just don't run it very well at all.

Yes! The bottom line with me is integrity. He has done things the right way abiding by NCAA rules and brought in good young men except for a few exceptions. In this day and age and especially what they pay coaches the fans for the most part unless they understand the situation like an SMU, Northwestern, Rice, Stanford, William and Mary, etc want instead gratification and most have short memories. You are only as good as your last game and that includes players. I really like Cotton but he plays well against TCU and then goes 1-7 last night. With that being said players will have bad shooting nights. As long as they work hard ( see last year's team) and execute on both ends, they have given their best.
Whoever you really are, you are a genius. Your parody of ponyfans sunshiners is great

I agree. I really like Doherty, but understand the desire to let him go. That said, either step it up a few notches and sign someone big time and seriously commit to basketball or give Doherty some more time.

How can you retain a coach that is 2-8 in CUSA and in sole possession of last place in his 6th year? The only way to retain him now is to actually extend his contract again otherwise he is a lame duck. Even if you give him a non-guaranteed deal, are you really going to publicly announce an extension after this garbage? No way. I don't care who you hire, you have to hope someone else can change the culture. Besides the record, none of the young players are actually really thriving. Vilde, Cunningham, Manual, are all suffocating. Jalen is up and down. Bickle wants to clean house and run off players. So Doh can start from stratch rebuilding for a 4th time? ridiculous. At worst, we could hire Ben Braun from Rice couldn't we? He would be a huge upgrade in substance over Doh.

It's really not much of a reach for a coaching upgrade. The only way Doh serves out his final year, is if President Turner does not let Orsini eat the last year of Robo Doh's contract that he so unwisely granted. Hopefully Orsini will learn from this bad strategic move.

I think the key thing is to not half-arse this decision. I don't consider myself a basketball aficionado but I feel we have the players to have a better record this year than we do. I was optimistic when we pushed OK State and others close early in the year because we had "better" players yet to join the team. The jump in form that Doh talked about before the season has not happened. I like Doh, a lot. I think he should be proud because he appears to have really invested himself in the program. But if we have a chance to go out there and get a top coach who will have a year of cusa before the BE starts then I think you go raise the money and do it. If we can't get the man we want, then I say leave Doh be. SMU has shown that it gives it's coaches time, that will make it a more interesting job for many top coaches.'

Some of you guys talk so much trash w/o knowing anything. I want Doh gone as much as anyone, but I'm pretty sick of hearing 'the only way Doh serves his final year' stuff, when that's not what the AD is saying or thinking. We may replace Doh, we may not. I hope we do, but insinuating it's a sure thing is just lies right now.
Beyond that, I know of a few feelers we have put out, and both came back and laughed at the opportunity, unless Orsini was gonna pull a June and grossly overpay. One MVC coach laughed at our Big East [deleted], unless we brought roughly 1.25. If we hired that gentlemen, at that number, it wouldn't be a splash or a blockbuster deal, just a potential bench upgrade. I love the guy, am all for it, but I understand if the powers-that-be find it difficult to digest at that number.

He's gone. Too little... too late. Gave his best effort, but it wasn't good enough.

Maybe, but it's not inevitable like you seem to think. They are going to see where they stand at seasons end

I'm sure the season will end, and only then will the powers that be will huddle up and make the decision with clear heads. It will have to be a concise, strategic strike with a coach waiting in the wings. I trust that the money guys will be involved and get a big hire. Its important to come out quick in the BE in year one......its an SMU pride deal.

Can anyone cite an example of where any player recruited by Doh has been coached up or met his expectations on the court?
