It has to be done tonight or in the morning. Its so over. It can only help recruiting to end this, and more importantly current player RETENTION. No more rationalization.

He won't be fired during the season. I'm still not convinced he gets fired at all. We do not have the money to make a new hire.

The post game was Robo-Doh at his finest. He holds his head high all the time and is a superb statesman for the program, but it was very hollow. My guess is he knows he's gone and he's going out with class. Good for him.

why not? Dement was. Plenty of coaches have been. Bill Frieder was fired in-season in 1989 and Michigan went on to win the National Championship. Think about that. Tonight was the absolute worst showing in the entire HISTORY of SMU basketball. If SMU doesn't have enough money to fire a failed coach with just one year left on his contract, we need to go D-2.

The guy got a freaking extension for doing absolutely nothing. He is connected with the power brokers in the basketball program and they want him to stay. I truly believe he will be here next year.

CoC hires/fires/pays the football coach. David Miller hires/fires/pays the basketball coach. If Miller wants to cut a check it will happen. It's not Orsini's decision.

Miller loves Doherty. That is well documented. SMU Athletic Department DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIRE MATT DOHERTY. He could lose by 50 and we still wouldn't do it. Orsini dug his own grave with that hire and STUPID extension. Matt Doherty will be the head coach at SMU next season IMO.
