i think fans will appreciate what Doh has done for SMU- Crum Center, fundraising, running a clean program. Just couldn't get momentum after 6 years, except one 20-win season. Going backwards this year sure didn't help.

Doh: Nice guy, done a lot in terms of getting us better facilities, just can't put it together on the court.

Orsini can "evaluate the situation" all he wants. In reality, he has no authority even though he is the AD. The donors (or one donor more specifically) calls the shots here. Until this donor decides to get rid of Doh, nothing else matters. RGT will not allow the school to take an additional $500K hit to dump a coach early. Sad... but true.

Can someone advise Orsini to stop with the endless, "Top 25 in everything we do," mantra. It really makes him look foolish not to mention repetitive. How about this... "Top 25 in everything we do... actually just men's soccer."

I know you don't like Tim but that is not a true statement.
Yes there was a bit of a dip during the transition but we were penalties away from the College Cup in 2010 and were ranked 6 in the RPI last season. By far the best athletic team on campus right now.

Doherty will be gone at the end of the season, maybe before. And to clarify, Steve O has all the authority he needs, he may only be restrained by the financial aspect of firing Doh. If SMU didn't need the money to fire Doh, Steve O could do it whenever he wanted.

DFFH- with all due respect. You do a lot of good reporting on futbol. I have no axe to grind with TMc or any other person who coaches our futbol team. I have repeated many times- just win baby!!
We have recruited outstanding talent and not finished in the top of the tournament. When you lose it doesn't matter how- you lost- plain and simple. IIRC two years ago we had the # 5 or 7 top recruiting class in the country. Last year all we read were writeups on how great our recruits were. Well, I don't care how good the recruits were if they don't finish with wins. Almost only counts in atomic bombs and handgernades. Sorry for the rant but I am tired of people trying to put lipstick on that pig. Our coaching selection was a major downgrade from Schellas and the record shows that.
Again, thanks for all the reporting that you do. We just have different opinions on the subject.
GO PONIES!!!

Steve O has authority in title only. He cannot pull the trigger without major donors agreeing. It's not his decision.

Cox - you are wrong. Orsini would of course confir with rgt - since they have to figure out the money - but he would make a recommendation to RGT and they would act. By the way - David miller would agree by now. Nobody wants to give millions to have a team perform like this.
