If for some reason Doherty is retained, you're going to have this. With the talk that player(s) are considering transferring should this happen, you're going to have the May signing period look like a total scramble. And the sping regarding these signings will be laughable.
And then we would be starting over in 2012-13 like we did in 2011-12. Then you're further behind trying to get this thing looking decent entering the Big East. This program is already set too far back for another offseason where roster chaos could follow.
We don't need that.
If we do not have an announcement regarding a change with this coaching position by the middle of March, that will be SMU's decision.
It will also be my decision to even consider whether SMU men's basketball will still be on my radar. I know I don't go to too many games, but I go when I can. If you start losing the die-hards, then there isn't any further you can fall.
The move has to be made.
Again, this isn't personal against Matt. Good guy. But my love for SMU and the overall health in athletics is at the forefront of this. It doesn't matter who the steward is.
