What we will learn on Wednesday

Postby Mustangsabu » Mon Feb 20, 2012 3:47 pm

It is going to be interesting to see what happens on Wednesday. Does Doh play like they played in the last 10 minutes of the game against Marshall? Does he, as he indicated at the press conference, switch between the two? Does he stand firm and demand the "Princeton" until all is beyond hope?

I would like to think that Doh realized, for one thing, that we scored 39 points in 10 minutes and it wasn't all RN. When he graduates we will lose our best 3 point shooter. To continue to play the 3-happy offense we have been trying to play is going to be exponentially worse (imagine that!!!!) when our best, and one of the nation's best, 3-point shooters is no longer on the court. I am inclined to think that Doh has not addressed this obvious issue as he knows he will not be here next year to worry about it. On that subject, I think it is probably very telling that Doh has not made reference much to next year over the past few months. Last year it was a constant theme. My guess, the deal is done and it's dignity to the end for Doh. As it should be.

But, like I say, we will no a lot about the future and the state of the program when we see the kids on Wednesday.

It also says a lot about the state of the program when I don't know when our next game is..lol

I'm so ready for this offseason, I can't take it. New staff and AAU. I'm at so many tourneys/camps this Spring summer, should be exciting tracking the new staff/prospects

After Wednesday's game, we learn there are only 3 regular season games left in this miserable season.

Doh was fighting for his job back in January when we had the Big East celebration. He said something about how SMU in the Big East is a great selling proposition "and I know how to sell it."

Actually I remember that now, but he hasn't, even in the difficult times, relied on a look-to-the-future argument. He talks about the kids being young all the time, but when they go and score 54 in a half, it doesn't exactly strengthen his case.

I heard him say that before the season started. I did not read a lot into it, just something you would expect him to say as he has coached in the Big East before (although briefly).

there may be hope for us tonight against Tulane.

Binghamton won their 1st game of the season last night. Could mean we are ready for another win?

We learned Wednesday night that Tulane isn't very good either and that most of its 15 wins were pretty much against lame competition.

OK, fine. They beat some bad teams. But they also won at Navy, beat UTEP and beat us, and if they're a bad team, we beat a team we should have beaten. Good on us.

Crappy teams should be splitting with each other. They beat us in New Orleans (that meltdown in the second half there was where thing started to splinter IMO) and we beat them here.

Glad we won. But let's keep it real. Instead of holding last place in CUSA, we now share it with two other awful teams in ECU and Tulane.

BTW, check that Navy record.

I don't think our talent is bad, but this alleged Princeton flies in the face of what they are capable of doing.

We're still getting our clocks cleaned on the boards. For the year, I believe we still have more turnovers than assists and free throw shooting stinks.

A win over crappy Tulane doesn't cure all the ills and should make us sing kumbayuh. If you don think that way, then you're blind.

Look at the health of the men's basketball program.

Is it healthy right now?
