Re: Official SMU Tulane Threadlol, why would you be done? This offseason is going to be epic.
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadHints in the Morning News today that Doh is going to let them run, we shall see.
The only way that Doh can keep his job is to change his offense and pray the Ponies finish strong and make a good showing in the tournament. If that happens, he can point to the fact that he "changed" and he needs more time to develop this new style. Probably too late for him, no matter what, but making an offensive change and it working incredibly well is his only sliver of hope. I will be at the game, as always, and hope we can get on a run here. C-USA is pretty damn weak this year as evidenced by Memphis losing to UTEP and Southern Miss getting beat by Houston...Houston! Anyone could win the tournament, need SMU to start playing better and make a run at this thing. Maybe it will start tonight...probably not though. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

done with making game threads... Could never completely give up on the ponies. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadWhy do I feel that we are about to go on a massive run a la win C-USA?
Doh is going to let the guys run, which makes everyone loose, and leads to us winning games. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadWouldn't surprise me at all, typical SMU scenario...
Re: Official SMU Tulane Thread
You are on to something. What if the change allows the guys to retain some of their potential and they go on a run like they did last year? Does that complicate making a clean and decisive break? I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen. Nothing with SMU athletics is simple and straightforward (e.g. even when the fb team does well, something blows up). Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadDoesn't matter what he does tonight, he will be replaced after the season. Running a faster tempo for the last few games won't get it done...the players will be happier to end the season is all.
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadDidn't Houston win the C-USA tournament a couple of years ago from the #12 seed? I know they were pretty low.
I feel that no matter what, Doh is probably gone. But if the Ponies finished strong and made a deep run in the C-USA tournament, I think it would give him a slight chance. Of course, the odds of that happening are pretty slim. Be funny though, if everyone has written him off, considered him gone, and then SMU goes to the big dance for the first time since 1993! Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Official SMU Tulane ThreadThat would be funny in a shocking sort of way.

Re: Official SMU Tulane Thread
I was thinking the very same thing. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadJust looked it up.
Houston was the #7 seed when they won it all in 2010. Not quite the bottom seed, but still pretty incredible. If SMU wins a couple down the stretch they will not finish last and even have a chance at the #8 seed if things go our way... Of course that is just another sign of how low C-USA is...SMU has lost 8 conference games in a row and could still win 3 out of 4 and finish in the middle of the pack. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Official SMU Tulane ThreadI like a good vodka and tonic with a lime too but some of you need to stop hitting the sauce and talking yourselves into a scenario where SMU rallies and Doherty returns.
I think that's more paranoia posting than anything else. The only prayer Doherty has is for SMU to win the CUSA tournament to get the NCAA automatic. That's the only way this team is going to any postseason tournament. SMU is nearly assured of a losing record going into the Tulane game. I believe that would be 5 out of 6 seasons where Doherty-coached teams have finished below .500. By while you're talking about this laughable "magical" run, let me know how it's going to work out on that trip to So. Miss and Houston before returning home to UTEP. A reminder: SMU is 11-16 overall (9 if you discount the 2 non-D1 wins) and 2-10 and DEAD LAST in CUSA. Thanks
Official SMU Tulane ThreadMitch, I am not saying it is even likely, but given how difficult everything seems to be with SMU , it would be just our luck that the team might do something to make firing doh difficult just when the decision should be obvious. If that makes any sense.
