UNIVERSITY PARK -- The men's basketball team (11-16, 2-10 Conference USA) hosts Tulane (15-11, 3-9) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moody Coliseum, looking to avoid the program's longest conference losing streak in 30 years.
SMU has lost eight straight in C-USA play. If it falls to Tulane, it will be the worst stretch since SMU lost 12 Southwest Conference games to close the 1981-82 regular season.
The Mustangs' Matt Doherty is one of the four longest-tenured C-USA coaches but the only one with a losing overall record.
SMU fell at Tulane, 80-74, on Jan. 25 after allowing 63 second-half points.
Doherty has said he will consider allowing the Mustangs to play a faster-pace offensive style more often after it sparked a 54-point second half in Saturday's loss to Marshall.
Gosh Coach, "You think"?
