Per Kate in the DMN:

UNIVERSITY PARK -- The men's basketball team (11-16, 2-10 Conference USA) hosts Tulane (15-11, 3-9) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moody Coliseum, looking to avoid the program's longest conference losing streak in 30 years.

SMU has lost eight straight in C-USA play. If it falls to Tulane, it will be the worst stretch since SMU lost 12 Southwest Conference games to close the 1981-82 regular season.

The Mustangs' Matt Doherty is one of the four longest-tenured C-USA coaches but the only one with a losing overall record.

SMU fell at Tulane, 80-74, on Jan. 25 after allowing 63 second-half points.

Doherty has said he will consider allowing the Mustangs to play a faster-pace offensive style more often after it sparked a 54-point second half in Saturday's loss to Marshall.

Gosh Coach, "You think"?

If Doh coached football, he would be suspicious of the forward pass.

If he does let em go, how many points does jones get? Wouldn't you love to see him on an open court.

Wow Tulane's shooters are as streaky as anyone's. 17 first half, 63 2nd half. If we're running expect Westhead kind of numbers tonight, 121-30.

It's unusual for a Conroy coached team to score 63 pts in a half; they typically spread the floor and show good ball movement looking for openings. Even if we "run" tonight, not sure we could expect 80 pts for the winner

Interesting stats... The longest conference losing streak SMU had was during Koncak's freshman year.
