2012 Recruits - Signed??

If Doherty goes, do the 2012 recruits have an out?

It is obvious Doh can't coach.
You pull the trigger, take your lumps and bring in a coach who can coach.

The one upside is that the recruits had to know that Doherty was likely to get fired. They certainly couldn't have expected to see him last 4 years.
I suspect keeping the assistants when Doherty goes is going to be key to keeping them.

Umm, there are still recruits in '12 who have no idea he's gonna get axed. Recruits listen to pitches and length of contract, not much else

I still want to see some miraculous run, if only because I hate to see anyone (especially at SMU) lose a job, but considering that firing seems far more likely ... the one guy I would hope above all keeps his job is Gerald Lewis. He was a great player for us back in the day, and although I have never met him, I hear he's a really good guy who absolutely loves SMU. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'd like to see him survive -- preferably as an assistant coach.

SMU ties aside, if anyone stays it has to be Hobbie. this is the Big East, and he's wired in NYC & Jersey. Quite frankly, Lewis is a good guy, but brings nothing to the bench. If he stays, has to be as ops guy.

Gerald is our OPS guy anyway. It might be a good extension for SMU marketing. Heck, he's the last connection with our program and the NCAA tournament -- back when rocks were new.
