2005-06 13-16, 4-10 C-USA avg home attendance: 3,069
Doherty 2011-12 to date: 12-16, 3-10 C-USA avg home attendance: 1,919
For those who claim we were god-awful when Doherty got here.

We were God awful cause Tubbs was already trending down, brought in a few malcontents, and then we lynched him in the town square. Us sucking to the degree we did, had everything to do w/Tubbs being dismissed in the way he was, not b/c we were actually horrendous at the time. Way to miss the big picture point, though.

Check out what our RPI was under Tubbs.
You'll notice that it was similar to what it has been under Doherty and nowhere near what it was under Dement. Tubbs would have had worse records had he played the sort of schedules that Dement had to play. WAC used to be better than it was in Tubbs' first season and CUSA in Tubbs' final season was pretty weak as well.

Not talking about Dement. Just saying Tubbs was every bit, and maybe more, the coach Doh turned out to be -- for a WHOLE lot less money.

It was a bad hire from the moment it was announced. We thought this was the way to keep it real w the DISD coaches who basically turned their back on him - led by their "leader" Goree Johnson.

At least Doherty recruited and has left us with talent. Dement led a sinking ship as soon as Tubbs left for OU. Getting Tubbs to be the Head Coach was a mistake as well. While it took Doherty a long time to land the talent we are very close now. This should be a quick turnaround if we manage to land a coach that can maximize our current roster and coach them up.

Absolutely. No way we should suck this bad, and next years class is quite talented. Just have to maximize that talent as opposed to what we've seen this year

Our talent is good CUSA talent but not BE talent. We have to step up recruiting in bball to really be competitive in the BE. We can give the new coach a year to get the team use to his style and establish recruiting while in CUSA next year them head to the BE in fairly good shape the year after that.

We'll have to step it up in the Big East in terms of recruiting, no doubt. That said, I'm far more worried about this teams lack of toughness than I am their skill level. The Big East is a bump n grind league wher one guy goes to the hole, and 3 end up on the floor. We don't have physicality or enforcers

Certainly wasn't more. Tubbs ran the program into the ground. Doh has simply sustained that level.
