Will someone buy us into a CIT-like tourney this year?

Please don't. Put us out of our misery and let it end with a CUSA first round knock out again. Use the money wisely... with the Doherty buy out and new coach hire. Football season can't come soon enough for this loyal fan.

Is this thread a joke? We're gonna have 20 losses. You can't buy yourself into any postseason tourney w/o the resume. All you can do is buy home games.

That money would be far better spent on raising salary funds for Doh's replacement

Hoomanx, glad you picked up on the tongue-in-cheek topic of this post. Yes, it was a joke, although I did enjoy watching the CIT games at Moody. However, we all know that money can buy anything including a coach with many losing seasons leaving with an additional $500K in his pocket for doing nothing. "Top 25 in everything we do!"

I'm pretty fired up for new blood, so long as it's not an embarrassing hire(see Rob Evans). We have some great options, just need to pull the trigger, retain our youth that matter, secure the '12 class, force some attrition, and hit the AAU circuit hard.

No excuses, its Big East time. Its starts w/Orsini making the right call in hoops, for once, and giving that new head man big money to hire a staff & players, lol

Would be real interesting to see who "Top 25 Orsini" has on the short list and how much money he has raised (minus the $500K they have to gift to Doherty) to determine who they can afford.

Had a friend of the Middle Tennessee State coach tell me we should look at him. Used to be at A&M I believe. I know nothing about potential hires. Would he be someone to consider?

MTSU's coach is Kermit Davis, he went 8-21 in one year at A&M and then was asked to resign because of recruiting violations. That was 1991.

I understand we have big money in the bank. We are getting ready to join what is probably the premier college BB conference in the counrty and play on a national stage. In my opinion we need to stop talking about coaches who might be great if we were staying in CUSA and start talking about coaches that have experience coaching and recruiting at the highest level. We are going to a top BB conference and need to start acting like we belong. No more projects.

So you are saying there is a chance. :D

Thanks for the reply X. As I said I knew nothing about him.

I hope someone helps Orsini negotiate the contract with the new coach. Mr. Top 25 didn't fare to well with the Doh agreement. Perhaps the incentives should be based on on the court performance and wins/losses. What a concept.

If Orsini cannot find one of the fine graduates of SMU Law to help him with negotiating the contract, I would be happy to help him out.

There are hundreds of good lawyers and sharp businessmen in Dallas who could help him out.
