I say he does color commentary with one of the lower level networks. He'll take a year off, collect his $450K from SMU, shake hands, kiss babies, schmooz ADs and land another mid-major coaching position in 2014. Sheer speculation.

As long as the parting is understood by both sides, professional, and Mr. Doherty leaves on good terms, he can go anywhere he wants and be happy. Just please don't let him leave with a pocket full of rocks to throw.

He certainly has been in this business long enough to know not to burn any bridges. Although his coaching abilities have been questionable at best, his business saavy is top notch.
