While we may not get Williams or even Greenberg, it is clear that the powers that be on the Hilltop are doing their best to find the best coach possible for our Ponies.

1) They clearly made a serious run at Williams;
2) I don't believe that there haven't/won't be talks with Greenberg; and
3) They haven't settled for just some guy we can get.

If we end up with an assistant at a top program or the guy at UNT, I know that our "will" was not lacking. We are competing with Illinois and K State for our new coach, not Arkansas- Pine Bluff.

After mulling it over for weeks, I have decided that Jones would be a fantastic choice. But for my negative bias against the North Texas Starbucks University, I would probably have warmed to him sooner.

K State made a mistake in letting their BB coach, Frank Martin, get away and take the reins at South Carolina

It was not K State's choice, they could not force him stay if he did not want to be there.

Columbia, SC ain't that much of an improvement. His odds of getting shot at just increased exponentially. Manhattan's not that bad for a town that only has the school and Ft Riley to speak of.

I've never been to either, but if you give me the choice of two towns that aren't necessarily ideal, give me the one that's warm, has more golf courses and is within driving range of a beach.

hoops- as the search drags on, any ideas on new names? As you mentioned the more time that passes the less likely Buzz will be our guy. Greenberg does have issues since his daughter is a senior at VT and another daughter is in high school.
Amaker would likely be pretty good but there are issues with his wife.

Ideas on where we go from here? And please don't say that sunbelt coach. IMO we would be a laughing stock for hiring him and I also question his abilities recruiting 'intelligent' players (ones who can get into SMU)..

Columbia is great except for the summertime. Then it feels like you are visiting Hades' personal sauna. Plus you are a short drive to Charleston and beaches. Manhattan is still in Kansas and is one of the most boring places in the entire lower 48. It's like Utah without the mountains
