Bobby Knight was mentioned

One of the circle of champions (doners) suggested Bobby Knight as the SMU BB coach to the pres and others. Knight's players had a good academic record in school. His temper would be a problem, but that can be forgiveable. He is comfortable in broadcasting and might not want to get back into the grind, and would probably try to to promote his son at Lamar for our job. He would be expensive, but the people who discussed the hiring could make it happen. I have this information first hand from the source. Talk about a headline grabber, think about the reactions if it could happen.

Well, I'd like to think that SMU/Dallas would be more promising than TT/Lubbock, but after that stint...

Doesn't he hate Moody? How ironic if it were to happen.

So can we only recruit a coach that is over 70 now? How about Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Antonin Scalia while we are at it. Maybe $3MM a year would lure them away from their day jobs.

You're right, LA, he really stunk it up out there. Terrible teams. Never competitive. Waste of 7 seasons.

You also may have noticed that during that time, SMU didn't come close to sniffing those kinds of records, conference finishes and postseason appearances.

Would you like to try again?

Bobby would be fun to watch on the sideline. And we thought that wild man, foot stomping, angry guy, screaming lunatic Doherty was a hot head. I'd have to give up my front row seats in fear of getting a chair tossed at me. No chance of this ever happening. No way possible.

I heard Bobby Knight say he liked Methodists when interviewed on TV after the SMU-Tech game at Moody when he was their coach

Not endorsing it, but he could keep his red sweater. Would he even consider us if our colors were green?
