Let's get it started. Well connected in the Dallas AAU scene. Respected by all in the area. Has a history of success at a school with no bball history. Wants the job. Won't cost 2.5 million. I love the thought of having another JJ at SMU! He's our man!

its not a coaches job to enact administrative change. That's just broken and not the way departments are supposed to work

Funny how that didn't stop Texas from going to UNT for their next women's basketball coach.

I'm sure it helped that Aston had previously worked at Texas, but her record at UNT was 15-16.

Keep in mind that she tripled UNT's wins from a year ago and also led Charlotte to the post season 3 out of the 4 seasons she was there. It's not like she just came out of nowhere to suddenly get the UT job. Yes, she has connections but at least she has a body of work.

Jeeze, next I am going to hear how Johnny Jones is a good Christian man and his wife was hit my lightning.

He may be the best coach ever, but we have no way of knowing that. Other than some marginally bigoted AAU types loving him and him winning the sunbelt, he hasn't done too much has he?

No reason any decent coach shouldn't be able to do just as good at UNT in the sunbelt.

We don't have the luxury of taking a gamble. Proven only!

Oh like that doesn't happen? Athletic Department and school administration changes and improvements with the addition of a new coach? The coach has to carry enough weight and big time 'good' baggage to enact changes in all at SMU in conjunction with the existing Athletic Director/staff, admin as every new Head coach has his own requirements/requests, hot points etc....Doh got us somewhere with a new practice facility, etc. Jones got us SMU entrance relaxation, etc. It's the same thing with the new basketball coach and just don't think a HC coming from UNT/NTSU isn't going to cut it at this stage of SMU's history.

Jones should be a top 3 candidate without a doubt. Not getting a sniff tells you everything we already know about the state of SMU men's basketball program.

Just say NO to Johnny Jones. No way he even gets interviewed.

Having three of your top players flunk out at mid term at North Texas no less tells me all I need to know about Johnny Jones. We can do much better.
