Might as well ask the question since we are now officially in competition with them for a coach as both schools head to power conferences.

Think SMU in the BEAST is more attractive to a bball guy than TCU in the Big Bevo. Orsini understands the importance of this move and will get it right.

What moves has he made exactly? Extend the current coaches that were in place before he was there?

Generally, the whoever has been the TCU AD has made better hires than whoever the SMU AD has been for the last 25 years........

TCU: Fran, Patterson, Tubbs
SMU: Rossley, Cavan, Bennett, Shumate, Dement, Tubbs, Doh

If you ask a lot of the TCU people they will tell you Christian was a bad hire. They were not sad to see him go. You might want to look at their record under him. Not as bad as Doh's but that isn't hard to do at all.

How would that look if admin didn't saw the legs off every one of those coaches while they were here? Sh*t, Dement should have gotten offers at better places places by showing he could do better than 30 games under .500 with dreadful facilities and oppressive admin restrictions.

To be honest the two positions are about the same. The big 12 has decent basketball. Not Big Easy quality but good enough to keep local players interested.

I see the two positions about the same. Big 12 Basketball is really not much of a step down from the Big East, other than it may be easier to compete because there are not 17 teams.

I have no doubt that SMU will throw more money at the hire than TCU, does not however mean we will make the better hire.

Should be interesting to compare the hires and then see how they progress down the road.

looking forward to debating who makes the best hire. Bet it won't be crazy obvious, or then again, maybe it will be...

Although TCU and the city have shown they will get behind a winning program and support them. We still haven't proven that. Also, TCU is going to have packed houses with Texas, Tech, Kansas, etc. playing at their house. Will be a great atmosphere. I hope Dallas will show up when we are in the big east. Actually, I hope WE show up when we are in the big east.

Not talking smack but the Big 12 rpi (average of each members average 5 yr ranking) is better than the same avg rpi of the Big East before Pitt, Cuse, and WVU left, better than the avg rpi when those 3 left, and is about 20 spots better with all future hoops members. In fact the 9 big 12 programs not named tcu average better RPI rankings over 5 years than the now #1 ACC. The Big 12 is 12 spots lower and #2 ranked with TCU included.

Big East has a higher perception but the Big 12 is every bit as tough.

This is an excellent point. We are still going to struggle to draw a crowd when we move to the big east...TCU will have a built in attendance boost with all them large Big 12 schools coming to Ft. Worth every year.
