For those in the know, is the search moving along? If so, what kind of candidates do you think SMU is currently looking at (realistically)?

I think SMU has two courses of direction for hiring a new coach. One course is to hire away from another school a top flight established coach with a proven track record of both coaching and recruiting. The second direction is to find that promising young energetic assistant coach and give him the chance to prove himself. What we do not need is another coach like Doh who was a retread with baggage and real questionable abilities to coach and/or recruit in the case of others. I can think of very few/none examples of coaches who were busts at one school and subsequently turned around another program and became top echelon coaches.

The silence is deafening as well as frustrating.

Title IX has forced the indefinite suspension of SMU men's basketball.

Sometimes it is when nothing is being said that something is being done. Hopefully that is the case now.

really dont think that it's a plus that everything is silent. Those that say dont worry about it, stuff is getting done...well, we'll find out when the hire is announced. My opinion is that aiming high caused us to strike out mightily. Whiff whiff whiff.
On the bright side, when NM wound up with Bliss after having targeted Gene Keady then Bobby Knight, his comment at his hiring presser was "my wife said I wasnt her first choice either"

Some have posted that SO has contacted a great number of coaches. It is surprising and discouraging when coaches like Frank Martin have no interest in us but go to a place like south carolina. Really wonder what/who we will end up with.

With this, and June's flirtation with asu, the coaches reaching out to SMU are miles beyond what we used to get.

That's the thing, I don't know if the silence is good or damning.
