Frustration With Search

Love President Turner and all he is doing for SMU. Would like, however, to see him get the several minds around him more involved in the search process.
This process is tighter than Bruce Jenner's face and I fear we are dragging our feet to a 5th or 6th choice...
Would like SMU to not act like typical SMU on this one search

I think if the rumors are true what SMU is offering, 2-3 million per year, private jet for recruiting, relaxing admission standards on top of the major redo over at Moody, then I must assume the SMU coaching postiton is a black hole to the coaching fraternity. Would not suprise me if SMU's new coach is an assitant from a high profile program not an existing HC like so many had hoped. IMO

Agree with all that. This is humbling.
Asst coach = steep learning curve...

Do not be impatience, grasshopper. Mike Krzyzewski's agent is demanding we agree to a home and home series with Duke before Coach K accepts. SO is pressing that all games be at Moody. I sense quick acceptance by the Blue Devils.

My real frustration is not with the speed. Its with the process, the approach and the fact we have a former Georgia Tech AD who is a non basketball guy (and hired Paul Hewitt) to run the search that is closed off at the top.

And a GT athletic director that had to pay Hewitt $7.2 million just to go away....

This search has all the earmarkings of an epic fail. So far we know that Buzz, Weber, Frank Martin, Groce, Amaker x2 and others have had no interest in coming here. There is not an abundance of top level, top quality coaches out there. It seems like we are striking out very quickly. IMO, in this situation silence is not golden.

Kind of obvious -no? If they would have had an interest we would probably have a coach by now. Ponyscott indicated that all of the above had been contacted (and apparently declined having any interest).

SMU carries out its coaching searches with all the enthusiasm and urgency of someone with Asperger's Syndrome.

As much as I love SMU basketball, the HC job is not high on anyone's list. We'll have to throw a lot of money at someone with at least a three year contract.

Don't worry, Eric Dickerson will show up last minute deus ex machina with a coach for us again
