JJ Taylor, Nate and Chuck will be talking SMU coach search in a few minutes - 2:45 PM ish. Teased less than positive assessment of Steve Orsini's search. Mentioned SO by name. Will update when the segment comes on.

Norm Hitzges also had a small update about the search. Merely mentioned the new tier of coaches we're looking at.

I listen cause we actually get some talk in sports. But that's neither here nor there. Here is a quick summary of a quick segment, and it confirms we are looking bad in this search.
JJT: What the hell is happening at SMU in their coaching search? What is Steve Orsini doing?
JJT: How do you know going in to the season that if your going to fire the coach if he has a bad season, do you not just have a list, but actually have your guy and a back up already lined up?
CC: SMU was swinging for the fences to show they belonged in the big east and to get momentum gon into the league.
CC: SMU is working on the golden sombrero on their misses on coaches.
CC: The upgrades in facilities only put SMU on par with other jobs. SMU not as attractive as they thought. SMU needs to win to get noticed, and that is the only way we connect to the city or get noticed.
Of course, we already know this - can't disagree with any of what either said. Now the interesting part.
Chuck Cooperstein said that Scott Sutton wants the job and that he will end up with the job. Chuck thinks this will be a great hire and good for SMU.
I was running, so this is the best summary I can give. Surprised he said that Sutton wants the job; seems like I read here that he wasn't interested.
You know you have done a bad job on your search when you get mentioned on the radio and called out by JJT. Was hoping for the best on this thing, but we ended up getting what I expected. The delay in the firing was a bad sign about how this search was going to go.

Atleast on 103.3 they talk sports for the most part and don't blast background music with every segment.

Of course nobody would be talking about us if we settled low early.
SMU hires x. Good hire. Next subject.
