What a class act. Showing up and the press conference and then introducing Larry brown to the current players. Best of luck to you coach doh! You have handled this situation like a real old school gentleman and a mustang.

I think someone has mentioned around here that he's pretty good at the fundraiser aspects of the job. One might wonder if the school couldn't find a spot for him if that is true. Seems like he really doesn't have any hard feelings over the situation and has handled himself extremely well in a situation most would not have.

Seems like he wants to be in NC for awhile. Smart man not to burn a bridge.

Larry and He are Tar Heel alums. Both from the Dean Smith tree.

Yeah, Larry Brown said in the presser yesterday that he talked to Doherty about an assistant's job but Doh wanted to spend some time in NC. Don't know if Brown was joking or not, but Doherty is a known commodity as a successful assistant so if I were LB, I would have checked with Doh as well...

I thought it was a very classy thing for Doh, and I am sure everyone appreciated it.

Very classy I completely agree. Must have been at least a little awkward though.

My understanding is that LB reached out to Doh and requested he attend and help with the introductions to the team and key alums. Class act and respect by both.

Always thought Doh was always a class act, just could not coach.

I think I could be a class act, also, for $500,000.00.

agree for those most part. Definitely a control freak - and cutting down players in front of them, not too classy. Very surprised to see him at intro ceremony. That would be tough to do. Nice that he didnt just bail on us and cut all ties.

It simply was a good business move. You never diss Larry Brown due to his far reaching network. We could view it as him being paid $500K for an appearance. Doherty is after all still on the SMU payroll for another year. It's also good visibility for him too since he'll be looking for a job eventually. He sat next to Coach Self too. Nice chance to network.

Coach Doh has always earned my respect. A great person. I wish him the best and hope our paths cross some day.
