Attendance next season

I'm so jacked for SMU basketball I hate that we have to wait six months for the next game.....
What's the prediction for attendance for the opener verses Upstate Coastal Carolina next season?
I'm rolling with 5k for the opener and barring a meltdown, 3.5k for the season average. If we are in the mix for a conference title, maybe a sellout for the Memphis game??

No way. There will be marketing, and maybe plenty of it. LB didn't come to SMU to coach in front of 1.5k, despite our terrible attendance history. And the Big East didn't take a school that settles with having 1.5k at home games. I promise you attendance was one of the first issues addressed in both the Big East and LB negotiations.

So you are predicting a downturn of an average of 500 fans per game? While the readings are not accurate our official average was right about 2000 per game his year

Our talent isnt BE quality despite a new coach. I see an uptick in the beginning but probably settling down back to about normal.

You're right, GiddyUp about our talent going into next year. But we are still in C-USA and LB is one of the greatest x's and o's coaches EVER. We will go into every game we play next year with a significant advantage in coaching. If our talent remains the same, I can see him getting us in the top 3 of C-USA.

A stated highest priority for both SMU and the Athletic Department for 2012-2013 is butts in the seats in both Ford and Moody. I understand we are in the process of new professional hires to help facilitate this goal. Let's hope we have developed a well thought out dynamic plan that has a reasonable chance of working.

For every question from Orsini about Brown's age and inability to stay in one place, I'm sure Brown had two questions about attendance and garbage game atmosphere. I would be astonished if that didn't take up a sizable amount of discussion time. It is the elephant in the room. June could and did put up with building that base from scratch. Brown isn't going to sit tight for that, and Orsini knows it.

The LB era will see the team playing better and winning more right out of the gate. I see a pretty good attendance spike right at the start of the season, including attendees like Rick Carlisle and other basketball who's-who's, then maybe a levelling during the holidays down to around 3k, when there aren't any cheerleaders or students around. January, back to 4k+, and 5k+ by February. I see at least a 20 win season and maybe NIT

I agree...LB will get more out of these guys when he gets here and new NCAA rules allow 8 hours of coaching workouts in the summer including 2 hours of direct coaching which will help LB get familiar with the existing players and the new 3 recruits coming in.

I hope that the City of Dallas really gets behind LB and his team. While I hope he is here for a long and successful time, this is a chance that may not last forever to see a coaching legend in our own back yard. This city loves basketball and we are a cheap opportunity to see some good talent being coached by one of the greats. SMU needs to market this right.

LOL!!!! 2k my [deleted]...I attended every game but two (tho one was TCU). I have pictures on my phone of people studying at games because it was so quiet.

Oh I agree with you, there wasn't 1000 people at most of the games in reality, but they do seem to love to rely on the official tickets sold....
