Federal Indictments coming down for large drug sales in Kansas including to members of Kansas Basketball team. Shocking! College kids smoking Dope. Why do you think they call it DOPE?

I'm not a pot smoker and never will be. But the stuff needs to be decriminalized immediately. Would save untold lives and resources.

hate the stuff and think people who smoke it are old hippy losers mostly - and some younger wannabee hipster losers - but no idea why it is treated any differently then alchohol. we couold save tons of money and increase tax revenue by legalizing it and taxing the hell out of it.

of course - not sure the connection to SMU sprts so i apoloigize in advance for the off topic. TCU sports, yes - but of course our guys are super clean.

Definitely needs to be decriminalized and taxed. Its so much better for you than alcohol, and I find far more adults function responsibly as stoners than as drinkers

Well with the rampant privatization of the carceral system, I'm sure many out there will continue to fight for the criminalization of marijuana. What a shame.

Wrong. The history of pot is that a huge preponderance of users gravitate to other drugs and addicted use.

That is probably due to the fact that you have to go to a drug dealer to buy it instead of a liquor store. Drug dealers will of course try to get you to step up to the next level where his real profits are. The whole 'WAR ON DRUGS" has been a huge fiasco. It has enriched the drug cartels thus providing them with the funds to corrupt the powers that be and terrorize the populations in the central and south american countries they operate in. I don't want any of it myself (I'm happy with my gin), but there are enough that do that it makes sense to grow it here, sell it here and tax it here. Keep the money out of the hands of the drug cartels. Well...thats my 2 cents worth of opinion.

That's the history of every drug my man. Like alcohol isn't the #1 gateway drug and probably responsible for the least responsible behavior.

What is the difference between a drunk driver and a stoned driver?

A drunk will run a stop sign and a stoner waits for it to turn green.

This. It's an absolute shame how much policy the private carceral system drives.

False: http://healthland.time.com/2010/10/29/m ... l-not-die/

In reality, its "history" is pretty much rooted in racism towards Mexican migrant workers and then subsequently in the establishment of large government agencies + lobbies in the 1930s that profit each year from sweeping anti-drug grants. Let's not forget about the logging industry having an interest in anti-hemp legislation either.

I'm not for immediate legalization of all drugs (though it's working well for Portugal), but crimes for possessing marijuana just seem regressive and excessively bureaucratic.

Suspend the entire Kansas basketball team for the year. And the TCU football team while you're at it.
