World Wide Wes...

Postby Treadway21 » Mon Aug 20, 2012 12:03 am

Cause it is slow in bball, and I saw this article, I thought I would post it.

Critical Coaches: How much of a factor is 'World Wide' Wes in recruiting?
By Eye on College Basketball staff

William Wesley, aka 'World Wide Wes', is one of the more mysterious people in the world of basketball. He has relationships with people at every level of basketball, and has been to known to influence a wide range of decisions.

The question is: Is William Wesley (aka 'World Wide' Wes) a factor in recruiting or is his perceived presence overblown?

Brown Reference:

Wes can certainly influence situations. Remember, he helped get Milt Wagner to Calipari and Memphis. He was tied to Tyreke Evans 'recruitment when he wound up playing for Cal and the Tigers. Wes certainly played a significant role in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist landing at Kentucky. He also helped Larry Brown get the SMU job this past offseason.

Is there a better place to discuss SMU basketball?

It'll pick up closer to the season. Ponyfans are football focused right now. Basketball has been an afterthought, but with the Godfather at the helm that'll change soon.

maybe so, but the reality is that there are huge happenings in bball right now, and they are all being covered elsewhere. Many are about eligibility, so discretion has meant premium boards. Surprised more people haven't held down recruiting stuff here, though

Don't doubt it. I spend way too much time on the computer. Don't need to pay for another productivity killer. I am fine with being the last to know. I follow you and ponyscott on twitter so I am least getting something.

twitter works pretty darn well too. tough to break sensitive stuff like pending eligibility there, or bunk visa's, but for recruiting, it doesn't get better. You should follow ponypride and ej/ponystampede over there too. Friend ponyscott on facebook if you like fuzzy cuddly akita's too
