Tempers are flaring up on the football side of the forum right now. I know I have let my own patience unravel throughout numerous negative posts & replies. I thought it might have a calming effect for me to declare how much I'm looking forward to witnessing the exciting new era of SMU Basketball that's taking shape for 2012-2013.

The basketball team is young and new to the system and learning ... and the crybabies will start longing for spring football. It's OK to be mad about a bad loss, and we are. But basketball is going to have some, too.

Basketball isn't going to be solid this year, especially with Mbargorba possibly out. But they will be OK and there are some real basketball fans around here that know what to expect.
The problem with the football loss today is that it is so far below expectations for June Jones Year 5

Coach Brown and everyone around have been saying that this will not be a very good season but that next year we will be much better. Most everyone is expecting to be bad at basketball but in football that was not the case. We will probably have more than just some losses in basketball we might have quite a few. But everyone expects that. There will be alot more patience in basketball than football and rightfully so because you have a first year coach verses a fifth year coach. Makes no sense to lose to the worst team on college football. That is not being a crybaby that is being concerned about your school.

Hell,
I am looking forward to basketball...no expections...I just pray we don't lose to a DISD team or whatever the hell that team was...(I still can't believe I drove all that way south in rush hour during a rain storm to watch SMU lose to a D3? team)......
Watching basketball will be a breath of fresh air....A new beginning.

We WILL see a well coached team at work on the basketball court, as opposed to the football field.

If I am a crybaby to complain that we just lost to the worst team in FBS in year 5 of the reign of a top 20 salary coach, than I am one. If SMU fans should be happy knowing a down year is returning to Bottom 10 status then let's just drop to DIII now and get it over with.
