Philly.com: SMU's Larry Brown offers N-G's Newton

Southern Methodist head coach Larry Brown visited Neumann Goretti's South Philadelphia campus on Monday afternoon and offered star basketball player Ja'Quan Newton a scholarship, according to the Saints head coach.
Brown, the former 76ers head coach, took over at SMU in April.
Last season, the 6-foot-3 guard emerged as one of the city's top players and averaged 16 points per game in leading the Saints to their third straight PIAA Class AAA title.

I believe he is trying to make a statement regarding the football team. Everyone has their way of expressing their frustration with June. Freedom of speech, no issue here.

On the contrary, I love SMU. I hate what's happening to it on the football side of things.
Plus, I can't change my name, then I lose all those nice horseshoes and have to start over.
