Per Dan Wolken tweet:

Looks like SMU is going to win Larry Brown's debut over Loyola Marymount, who was picked 4th in the WCC. Interesting.

Best part about it was that it was a pretty decisive win too.

A very good team was LMU...they played darn good D and if the guy on Russel wasn't so energetic, Russel would have many more points. Russell is the real deal!

That's the closest thing you will ever see to praise for SMU from Wolken. Take it.

Yep. Guy has a vendetta against SMU (he is a Vandy alum, so that might explain it). "Interesting" is the nicest thing he has ever said about our school.

According to Sagarin's ratings (before the game) LMU was #119.
That would be #7 in CUSA and better than:
Houston, Tulsa, Tulane, Rice and ECU
TCU, UNT, Texas Tech, Providence
8)

Our guys better be in shape. We are not deep.

LMU was #168 in RPI from RealTimeRPI.com

We were #180 and projected to win 74-69 by the same site.

It hasn't updated yet (I look at the Daily RPI as the one that updates in real time requires a subscription and really is useless anyway) but TCU was #17 heading into Sunday

#3 on LMU was ballin'

Here's an LMU basketball board. Not much was said about SMU in their thread though:

That LMU was good...really hustled...we got nothing off the break...hitting our foul shots was the key...very good win, IMHO.

He they scored 107 points in their first game against Pacific....anytime you can score that may points you have some ballers...we played great defense and #3 is a quality guard that could have scored a lot more if SMU didn't play help D on him as he was quick off the ball and really good in space.

Pacifica, not Pacific - Pacific is semi-legitimate. I have never heard of Pacifica before.

We have moved up to #74. LMU has dropped to #219.

TCU is now #48. They are predicted to beat us 76-64.

Take that for what it's worth. RPI is notorious for having wild swings in the first few months of the season. By mid-January, it seems to be a little bit better.
