Please help me out...

We have a good starting five of all underclassmen, with senior as sixth man...plus four true freshmen (one injured).

Next year we have six Big East-ready recruits coming in (three transfers and three recruits).

That adds up to 15 scholorship players for next season...two have to go?

Who is going to lose scholarship? Must be kind of tough to play for this year's freshmen, knowing you may be asked to leave next year. Never have seen a team over recruit before in Division I basketball in my 40+ years watching college basketball.

What am I missing? Thanks...and Go Ponies! We will have a solid 11 players next year...going to be tough to come up with an 8-9 man playing rotation.

I'm guessing Bernardi and Uche have to go. Someone else will have to get cut if we want to make room for Frazier (Dickerson perhaps).

This might not be the answer you want but I know it's the right one. Larry Brown will make the best choice. I hate giving or assuming someone deserves full power and faiths but if there were any basketball coach who deserves it, it's Larry brown

It's probably out of the three mentioned. Dickerson has looked really overwhelmed so far, and we'll actually have some big man depth next year, so he'd be in the conversation too. Running off some of these kids isn't something I want to think too hard about right now though. It's always tough.

when a team is really good it has its own attrition (grades, behavior and attempts at pro). the smart teams allow for this - kind of like over selling an airplane flight.

Over recruiting...

I have followed college basketball for a long time, and I have never seen awarding scholarships for more spots than you have, forcing you to remove players from the team...

Over recruiting based on talent yes, which may cause attrition...but not having to actually remove kids from scholarship that a school previously recruited just because you found someone better. I hope after LB gets his recruits in place next year, that SMU doesn't do this anymore.

That being said, of course it is exciting that we are attracting high caliber recruits and that the team has the potential to really excell in the next few years. Perhaps a question of you can't have it both ways?
