Next home game?

Thrilled about the start of the season, not so much the 5-0 record, but HOW this team plays: They play defense, they make the extra pass and they make their free throws. Those things can make up for a lack of depth and size, especially in the college game. And, those things are all about coaching. Larry Brown, the man CAN COACH. He has not lost an ounce of passion.

Now, as for the team around the program. They've got to pick it up! I sat in the arena for more than two hours last night and there was NEVER a mention about the next home game (vs. Pac-12 foe Utah next week), the HUGE game vs. Tulsa (and Danny Manning) on Jan. 6 or even a mention of the upcoming football season finale on Saturday. Forget about mentioning the women's team.

What's the point of having a video board if you don't use it? You have to subscribe to what the TV networks do. The game is a two-hour promo for the NEXT game(s). How about telling me where I can listen to the games from Mexico this weekend? Is it 770 AM? Beat it over my head, please. You cannot promote the product enough.

You can tell from the crowd that there is a good percentage of generic basketball fans -- and new SMU fans -- at the game to see Larry Brown's team. We WANT those people to come back, don't we? They are SMU basketball novices, so help them along.

Our people have GOT to start thinking one step ahead. Don't even get me started on conference realignment! ONE STEP AHEAD.

Things are about to get pretty exciting in Moody Coliseum. You can see it by the way this team plays. Just wait until next season! It's going to be fun, but a lot funner if the building is full. Let's go, people!

This is a very good point. We should be promoting the hell outta the Utah game. This team and LB deserve the support. We are putting a very entertaining product on the floor, coached by a legend at a very reasonable price.

It should be an easy fix, but game presentation has been awful for 10+ years. Maybe its the limitations of our current "Lite Brite" scoreboard and 1980's sound system. Product on the court is improving, low volume sound, awful video presentation and numerous times of silence is killing the overall game experience. The model for what we should strive for is miles away at the AAC, but I guess we have to wait til next year.

No, no, no, no, no and -- did I say -- no!!!!

The Wal-Mart/strip-club model at the AAC is the same as at the Cowboys games. Mind-numbing noise mixed with alcohol.

We should have a COLLEGIATE atmosphere, a mix of the Mustang Band, cheer and pom squads, some fun promotions and SMU basketball. Please don't even think about mimicking what pro sports do in this town. It's hideous.

Our audience is the $12/ticket and have a ice cold Coca-Cola family audience. We should be able to create our own incredible environment that's fun and tasteful -- and features the student body. And, makes people want to come back to campus after two hours of fun.

Absolutely. And we can ramp it up without blasting people with t-shirt guns and strip-club music. We just have to feature what we already have and create the right mix. It's not rocket science, but it does take some creativity and thought. The elements, for the most part, are in place.

the two announcers spice it up a tad - better than the Kiss Cam for sure.

I am sure the new building will have a different vibe.
