I certainly don't mean to make light of what ESPN is doing tonight, and I hope everybody finds it in their heart this holiday season (or any season) to give something to a cause important to them - cancer research, the hungry, or even SMU...

But, it's hard to think of anything other than 59-57 every time you see a clip of the great Jimmy V.

(what perfect timing - Dickie V just mentioned LB and SMU!)

Wow, the Houston Chronicle sure has great online archives...

What a great night on campus that was!

Southern Methodist gave Southwest Conference basketball a much-needed boost in prestige over the weekend.

The Mustangs made Coach John Shumate's home debut a memorable one, defeating 16th-ranked North Carolina State of the Atlantic Coast Conference 59-57.
"I feel very honored and fortunate to win my first college game against one of the giants of the game (N.C. State Coach Jim Valvano)," Shumate said.
