#SMU WR Marcus Holyfield is now a member of the basketball team. CB Kenneth Acker has opted not to play. Get the scoop at Pony Stampede!

I'm glad Acker isn't playing. I would hate to lose out top CB to an ACL in a freak bball accident.

Anyone know about Holyfield's hoop skills? I know we need bodies but i can't imagine LB adding someone unless he thought they can help

I had a chance to talk to Marcus for some time during his freshman year. A very nice young man and very courteous. I did note that he was rather slim, had length, and reasonable height for a guard. At that time he would have been pushed around on a basketball court and would not have been a physical presence. I have not seen him without his football uniform since, but doubt based on his build that the football weight guys put very much bulk or strength into his slight frame. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that he was not going to get any football playing time and unfortunately for him he will probably not get too many minutes, if any, on the basketball team. SMU was simply the wrong fit for him athletically.

Football roster has him listed at 6'1" 185. It'd be nice if he could give us 8-10 minutes a game. Once we get into conference play these guys are going to be pushed to the limit. We just don't have enough bodies, especially bigs.

Anybody have an idea when he will have a shot at hitting the court? Did he travel for this road trip?

At URI, he was not listed on the roster and I didn't notice him on the bench.

Holyfield doesn't matter, we needed Acker. Screw our lousy fball program, get Acker on the hardwood
